Barnes and Noble Display

May 1 - May 31

For the month of May I have the opportunity to display several of my paintings and two photographs on the wall of the Barnes and Noble Cafe. It is fun to see everything hanging together. I have most of these up in my house under normal circumstances, but they are in different rooms. I like the mix of sizes and textures.

Everything is for sale. Prices range from $35 - $500. If you are interested you can contact me by e-mail to learn about specific pieces. kimmelion@yahoo.com

Red Onion

Red Onion
Oil Pastel, Gesso on Recycled Steel Siding
Mounted with Recycled Pallet Wood and Lath Boards
Sold

One day I was sifting through my stash of seeds on the gardening shelf in the basement looking for something interesting to sprout and when I pushed my net bag of onion sets aside I noticed that several of them had already sprouted. It was instant gratification since I wouldn't have had to wait the 3 - 7 days to see results. After several paintings with mostly beiges and burgundies I was excited about the potential to have a bright green and beautiful purple to look at for a while.  I like the look of twirly leaves as they reach for the sunlight.

This is also the first one that I mounted with the frame going all the way to the edges of the steel siding. I like seeing the edges of the siding in some cases, mostly on the smaller paintings. I like the contrast of the jarring, rough edge with the smooth wood of the mount.  In this instance, however, I feel like you get to enjoy the mix of textures a little more without being distracted by the roughly cut, uneven edges.
